Code of Conduct & Standards of Business
All members and member representatives who associate with the New Mexico Out and Allied Business Alliance implicitly agree to read and adhere to the following membership Code of Conduct.
Our Commitment to Community
As an entity associated with the New Mexico Out and Allied Business Alliance (NMOABA), which includes:
- NMOABA Board Members
- NMOABA staff, contractors, and vendors
- NMOABA members and member representatives
- NMOABA ambassadors and volunteers
Association with NMOABA is a privilege, one that carries the responsibility to ensure that all members and their representatives understand and commit to the following Code of Conduct.
NMOABA strives to advocate, promote, and facilitate the success of the LGBTQ+ business community and its allies across New Mexico through the guiding principles of equality, inclusion, economics, and education. In alignment with those principles, all associated entities agree to be honor-bound by these Standards of Business.
Conduct & Ethics
Uphold the Mission.
All entities associated with NMOABA will understand, support, and promote the vision and mission of the New Mexico Out and Allied Business Alliance, and will cooperate with fellow members in the application of this Code of Conduct.
Represent the Alliance with Integrity.
All entities associated with NMOABA will respect the reputation, profile, and standing of the Alliance and represent NMOABA accordingly in all professional and community settings.
Support the Community.
All entities associated with NMOABA will champion the ideals and goals of this organization, as well as the broader LGBTQ+ and allied community of New Mexico, in an inclusive, constructive, and positive manner.
Do Business Honestly and Fairly.
All entities associated with NMOABA will conduct business with honesty, integrity, and fairness — toward customers, clients, employees, and fellow members alike.
Reject Discrimination.
All entities associated with NMOABA will not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Advertise Responsibly.
All entities associated with NMOABA will advertise their goods and services in full accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Follow the Law and Professional Standards.
All entities associated with NMOABA will conduct business in adherence to the laws of the State of New Mexico, any applicable professional or industry codes, and generally accepted business practices.
Treat Everyone with Respect.
All entities associated with NMOABA will exercise due respect when attending, interacting with, or communicating with other members or their guests at any NMOABA event or function. This includes, but is not limited to, refraining from rude, offensive, disorderly, or demeaning conduct or speech toward others.
NMOABA will not tolerate:
- Misogynistic, sexist, racist, or homophobic conduct or speech
- Unwanted sexual advances toward members or their guests
- Any conduct or speech that disrespects or demeans the personal identity of any individual at NMOABA events or functions
Implied Agreement
By participating in the New Mexico Out and Allied Business Alliance and its activities, I/we understand and agree that failure to adhere to the professional and personal obligations outlined above, and as further defined in the NMOABA Bylaws, may result in the review and/or termination of my/our membership.
